When searching for the perfect look for your bow window treatments, you will find that you have many choices.
You can choose to purchase separate window treatments that will be installed to match the arch, and the selection is practically unlimited. Or you can choose to custom order a track and drapery that is designed exactly for your window arch.
If your choice is the separate treatments, you will need to purchase four or more panels to cover the window space. They can be sheer, or heavy and luxurious. Since a lot of bow windows are on the ground floor and in the front of the home, you may also want to consider drapery that gives you privacy. You can use sheers during the day for a certain amount of privacy, and then have heavier curtains to draw in the evening.
But your choices do not stop at panels. You can use roller shades, or blinds, vertical or horizontal. You can use pleated shades or shutters. Your imagination will take charge as you become aware of the various selections you have to choose from.
Because you will want the privacy, as well as the glorious bow window adding more beauty to the room, you can perhaps choose shades that look lovely on the inside, as well as the outside of the home.
If you choose the custom made track for your bow window, you will find that your choices are many in this regard, as well. And the advantages are also many. They will fit exactly to the dimensions of your window. This is especially advantageous if it is a non-standard size. They will be chosen to your own personal taste, and that means not only the color scheme, but also the fabric chosen. And there will be one draw string to open and close them, two at the most, if you want separate sheers, as well. This is as opposed to the separate four or more panels, should you use the separate curtain choice for your large window.
If your bow windows are located in your living room, you will probably desire a much different style and feel to them than if they are in your bedroom. The living room can be bolder, since the room is, after all, for living. You can have reds and golds, your colors can be darker. And you would want to keep the theme, such as Victorian or modern, or whatever type of furniture is in there. For your bedroom, your treatments would be more subtle, comfortable and soothing. It is a room for quiet times, perhaps romance, and sleep.
So you have a couple of directions to go in when you are choosing the draperies for your bow window treatments. You can do horizontal wooden blinds or shutters, or you can go with long, flowing sheers to the floor. However you decide to embellish these windows, be sure that the fabrics and colors you choose add to their grandeur, and they will capture, and in fact become, the beauty of the room.
