Out of all the naked parts of a house the windows have to be undoubtedly the most fragile, special and insightful. I mean, how many times do you just draw the curtains and take a peak outside? Every day, of course, and even more regularly when you stay indoors the whole day. But windows that are not taken care of are not that much of a pleasure to have without the exact window treatments for large windows.
Basically window treatments are not exactly treatments that are used to preserve the strength and glimmer of your house windows. In fact it is the different types of coverings you place over your windows that are being mentioned here in greater detail. But of course these two work together to make for a better effect as shiny windows make any curtain or drape design look absolutely frenzied.
The first known types are the window drapes and curtains. There are the two panel curtains that actually hang from the sides of the windows. Such window curtains are designed to filter out the direct sunlight from the sun during the raw and open summer months as well as retain heat when it is cold in winter. They therefore serve a dual purpose whilst beautifying the home as well.
In addition to these you also get the window drapes that are very convenient if you have a radiator under the window sill. The best drapes are obviously the ones that are made from cotton. The material does not lead to room heat congestion and on top of this they are easy to wash and keep clean. Besides these there has been a resurgence of a half-way curtain that covers only the lower half of a window.
Large windows can again be decorated and covered with blinds and shades. Blinds are made out of hard materials like bamboo, unlike curtains and drapes made from fabric that is washable and easy to remove. Obviously they come in bamboo, paper and jute as these have to be one of the most popular materials for making blinds and drapes.
The blinds can be vertical or horizontal, depending on your taste in size and style. But vertical blinds are generally preferred because they hardly buckle with time, something that gives them superiority in quality and durability.
The most popular treatments are the fabric window treatments. Curtains, sheers and drapes are unarguably the most commonly used ones. The material can either be heavy or light, depending on the needs of the home or room you are furnishing. If the material is heavy this is when privacy is important to you as it is not possible to see through them. Lighter materials are for when you do not want to retain moisture in a high moisture room like a bathroom.
The colour of the curtains or drapes is also important. To know what colour of curtains to buy you ought to consider the amount of sunlight that part of the room receives. If it receives a lot of sunshine it means you should have a lighter shade of curtains since a darker shade would fade quickly.
