Because of the fact that they are found in limited supplies they are very much susceptible to low supply, an occurrence that greatly elevates their price beyond what they are really worth. So in order to curb this scientists began manufacturing these rings in laboratories using advanced techniques and methods. But after such processes the moissanite looks like real moissanite.
The grading system used to determine their quality is very much different to the standard one of carats used to denote diamond values. Generally they are graded in terms of carats, but the carat value is very different from the one used for diamond grading. That is why you ought to ask your jeweler which rings are moissanite and which ones are diamond, the carat issue can be a bit confusing.
But in terms of real prices variables diamond is generally more expensive. The cost of a moissanite piece is an eighth of the total value of a diamond piece of the same weight and grade. But because natural moissanite is inadequate in terms of supply there are times when it is more expensive than a diamond ring. This is mainly because it has to be made in a laboratory.
These rings come in different colors and designs. In a number of jewelers you should find the white types that look almost like diamond. Rose pink is also another popular color selection, in addition to the canary yellow and blue shades of rings. It is also possible to get dark pink and green.
